Shoreline Aquatic Center

Junior Sailing Opportunities

Who: Kids 9 to 18 are welcome to race with us and join the racing team.

Cost: The fee for racing during the week is a $5 launch fee and $5 entry fee if sailors bring their own boats or $25 total if they rent from the aquatic center (we rent Capri 14.2's).

Days/Classes of Boats:

Wednesday Nights  = Lasers, Capri 14.2's, and the occasional Byte and Europe.
Fridays Nights  = Juniors --right now we have Capri's and Windsurfing Longboards, but we'd love to get  some prams out, like EL TOROS.

Time: Starts are at about 6:00pm.  The Racing Team is new this year for kids 9-18.  Our first event will be Capri 14.2 Nationals in San Diego on September 28-29.

General Information: We are drawing from our Summer Youth Camps for team members, but want to reach out to area pram racers (El Toros), and older kids in Europes, Bytes, FJ's, and 420's.  We may be expanding our fleet in the off season, but right now, kids will need to provide their own boats or use the Capri 14.2's.  There will be a fee for the race team, but this is still pending.  We may charge a set fee for the full year, or go month to month, or even practice to practice.  I'm working with local Laser sailors who have kids in El Toros to develop/promote some of this.  We are leaning toward Saturday morning practices for the pram kids - like 9:00 to 12:00, starting in Sept..

We have a fleet website on www.capri14.org (we're Fleet 22) which has some info on us.

Location:  The Shoreline Aquatic Center is at 3160 N. Shoreline Blvd. in Mountain View, CA 94043.

Directions:  Take 101 to the Shoreline Blvd. exit.  Go east on Shoreline Blvd. until it dead-ends into our Boathouse.  Phone 650-965-7474.  We are in Shoreline Park, a Mountain View City Park, and we sail on Shoreline Lake, a 66 acre, salt water lake that is much warmer than the Bay and gets light air in the mornings and can see 25kt.s + on big afternoons.
